Long day, running from here to there. Cleaning my apartment frantically before leaving, then studying 한국어 frantically, knowing that I'M IN BIG TROUBLE when I land in Seoul. Finally arriving in Honolulu, got my rental car:
Yeah, that's right--a convertible!! :D Actually, my first time to drive it! Only $20 more, and in Hawaii... crazy not to have one, no? Except... IT STARTED RAINING AFTER I LEFT THE RENTAL CAR AGENCY! :'(
Anyway, spent most of the light here in the dark, lost in a bamboo forest (literally...). I followed a "service trail" ("do not enter; trail not maintained"), and it ended in the middle of a thick bamboo forest. I was really just happy to get my way out, because I lost the trail and was pretty unsure how to find my way back :$

I thought of you so many times; arriving in Hawaii for my first time (what would you think?), getting the convertible (would you think it's "cool"?), hiking off-trail (how far would you follow? How would I act differently in your company?), waiting too long to eat (I'd get scolded for being cranky for sure... my driving got a little aggressive :$)... and so many more. You were with me all day... except, not :(
Finally, at the end of the day, I was out of food... but managed to get this photo before scrambling for some food and arriving at my hostel.
Hostel is very cheap, but a little noisy. And the wireless here is not reliable. Which means... I may have saved $60, but I regret. It's like today's plane right, but a lot worse. There, I saved $35 by not upgrading to an exit row, where I could have had a window seat... and I missed my first chance ever to see O'ahu from the air on a sunny day, partly cloudy. I bet it was amazing...
Anyway, going to bed after a full day of missing you. I wonder if we'll be able to meet in Seoul. Or how I can tell you that ... I am there. I really don't know.
Love, Ben
